Don't you have to pay a restocking fee, even if you're within the 14-day return period?

More than likely, but that doesn't bother me. I don't mind spending a little extra and causing myself a bit of hassle if it means I can get the supposed 23" iMac.

I just saw the video about the hack in cNet. David Maynor used a third party wireless card to do the hack. My question is Why did he used a third party card?

Why use a third party card while the Macbook has built-in wireless already. Can he hack the built-in wireless card? It looks like that he cannot hack the built-in card so he used a third party card. My other question is Who would buy a third party wireless card for the MacBook? By doing so, makes no sense. I would like him to show us a video hacking the Macbook using Macbooks airport card.

Exactly what I was saying. Apple is based in Cupertino, California. It's not even 8 am here yet. Usually stuff happens between 9am-12pm

When they announced the changes to the MBP C2D, it was done by now.. if you go back to the posting on MacRumors, (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061024083823.shtml) it was done at 8:38am EST (5:38AM Cupertino time).

Apple Releases Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro
    Tuesday October 24, 2006 08:38 AM EST

Today's not lookin' good for this announcement....

yes I do ... and I am 100% in support ... I would be more than willing to pay more taxes if Canada increased our spending to bring us more on par with the US.

How can that possibly be justified? What is the threat that this budget is confronting?

I don't get the "3D" screen thing???? My regular 1080p TV can play a 3d Movie just fine. The 3D software shared here on MacRumors didn't have any special screen... what the heck would Apple do to make it a 3D screen?

    I say "false".

To compete with the Nintendo 3DS.

Drinking from the Apple koolaid again, huh?

Perhaps if you pulled your head out of SJ's bum long enough to look around, you'd notice the vast majority of iPhone users are being punished in Apple's attempt to mold the internet in it's own image.

A large number of websites use flash in their design, and are completely inaccessible without flash support. Inefficient or not, that's fact, and we're the losers here.

Sorry, just stating facts. Flash is a horribly inferior technology and has crippled the web from a much greater potential. I honestly have not missed it at all on my iPhone and I block it with ClickToFlash on my Macs. I would GLADLY forgo Flash if Apple can kill it forever. Web developers need to use approved open standards and stop using Flash as a crutch. And if by Apple's own image, you mean far superior open standards that are approved by the W3C, then yes!

These new nanos are awesome! I'd get one if I didnt have my 60 gig 5G :D

I like black and silver models most of all. I didnt like black 1G nanos(scratches and stuff), but this alu black is great! :)

Indeed, these Nanos show that Apple has NO competition at all in the market...they are gonna sell like hotcakes, even more now than ever...there are simply NO downsides with the new Nanos.

The black one is already on my list...

every year a new igadget comes out, adn the forums are full of "apple will never produce that *insert complaint* monstrocity, it goes against everything that apple stands for

People spend their lives looking at the world in 3d, so perhaps you should be a bit more specific aboiut the implementation of 3d may cause headaches. Now how does that assumption align to glasses free 3d?

Most is a magical word, which is why there is another set of words like glasses-free that is important

    best of both worlds

apple thrives of gimmicks, as longas they have tangible value

    Likely?

Unnecessary to who? The only person who cares is the apple boss who signs off the spec in the hopes it will make apple more profit. A touch screened ipod nano is a poiinless spec, but somebody signed if off for production.

iPod Nano with a touchscreen is good. I find it much easier to browse songs and stuff using a touch screen than the wheel.
Also, 3D (more accurately 4D) causes headaches due to the equipment not being exactly right for each person. The glasses are an obvious example, and the glasses-free technology also has obvious problems (like near/far sighted people). And I say 4D since the 4th dimension is time.

I'm on the fence about the whole iPhone Flash debacle. I believe Apple is not adding flash to try and get standards changed. They have a habit of doing this type of thing. In fact, I think they tried it with MMS by replacing it with email. However, consumers thought different, and now we have MMS.

I agree Flash is terribly inefficient, but has been around a long time. That being said, there are those times when being able to use a flash website would be convenient. It's not really hurting me though, so time will tell what they do.

Well, don't put back your camera just yet. If I recall it correct, you never set any time limit when you made your bold statement about Conroe in iMac. My guess is that Conroe eventually will arrive in iMacs...and when it does... we do (sort of) look forward to your promised homemovie. :D

    Technicalities. :D

I did blow it with saying that Wodcrests would not go into MP's, though. :(

    Hope you're right.
But, for 10 million dollars they'd better have LIFETIME exclusivity. And offer a number of Beatles IPods.
The Early Days with the early beatles etched.
    Revolver - Revolver etch.
    Yellow Submarine color and etch.
    Revolution
    Get Back.
    Abby Road...

But, Steve knows his business better then I.
    So, Good Luck.

Like these previous guy's have stated,
for many, this music has already been Ripped
    or LimeWired.

Steve may have to offer something new.
    Optional hi-def download quality?

No not lifestime exclusive for 10 million. Microsoft got the Stones Start Me Up for Twenty Million 11 years ago just for the commercial run of that particular Ad campaign.

Haha, so can we now bill our client the monthly price if they need vector work done in Illustrator, just like we would bill them for the fonts or anything else?

I started using Photoshop at version 5.5 when I was about 12. So I was kind of confused when I just saw this pop up in my Twitter feed. I had a flashback! Crazy how we have come this far. This new model sounds interesting, but will it beat the people who pirate software? Unlikely.

Now time to dive-in and see what these changes are...

Did anyone see this coming?? Feels almost like a late April Fool's joke.

Apple is at the core a software company.

No, Apple is a hardware company

    Both of you are wrong.

Apple is a vertical systems integrator and vendor. They sell an vertically integrated solution that includes both software and hardware. They've been like this since the 70s, back when it was in-style.

These days, these types of vendors are rare. IBM still is with some POWER machines running AIX, HP has their Itanium/HP-UX systems and of course Oracle and the SPARC/Solaris boxes, but of course, these are mostly big-Iron Unix solutions, which is about the only place you'll find vertical solutions anymore.

Apple probably is the last of the consumer vendors doing vertical integration.
