Maybe Apple's improving - the last two PBs I owned had their MOTHERBOARDs recalled. Now its just my battery.
Yep, I'm affected - web site was slow but accepted my serial, confirmed my recall status, and then asked me for my address.
I have a PBG4 15" 1.67ghz (SD 01/2006 model) purchased 10/06 as a refurb.
I don't think this will hurt Apple, but it will hurt Sony big time.

It doesn't matter...the new nanos wouldn't qualify for the promotion.
Same thing happend last year...the nanos were released before the free iPod mini promo ended.
But if they release the new nano's at the same price as the previous ones, I don't see a reason why they wouldn't include those same priced nano's in the promotion. If they're more expensive, they'll treat it as the other iPods in the promotion--you just have make up the rest of the cost.

I think Mac sales are directly tied to the Halo affect of the iOS devices. The more they sell there, the more people open up to Mac as an alternative. With Lion having more iOS like interfaces, it will make it even more natural for new customers.
I think this is part of their strategy... that is, iTunes/AppStore/iOS ecosystem made them successful ($) and they have millions of loyal customers; they can transition these user, to Mac by making it have the similar features & feel.
I also think that part of their strategy is to much more aggressively roll out Apple stores to non-US markets to do this.

once ipad is launched, millions will buy or check it out online. At the same time, if apple has updated the pros and airs, consumers may also choose to purchase them online.
Apple wants to attract new customers all the time, it will be disappointing to see the line of mac products along with their price if nothing is updated before the ipad launch.

I took mine to get repaired for this issue a week ago. The repair shop are very slow and I will only get it back on Tuesday this week. And by the sounds of it this update could have solved the job.

I doubt it. While multitouch is practical for handheld devices, it isn't for desktop computers. The idea just isn't ergonomically sound, and doesn't seem like the kind of thing Apple would do. iOS is pretty good for what it is�a simple, stripped-down interface that allows people to interact with handheld devices. It's not a replacement for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux distributions, or other desktop operating systems, and it would be foolhardy for Apple to conflate the two.
I know that I personally would be pretty annoyed if Apple decided to make all its operating systems identical to iOS�I think there's a time and a place for multitouch, and a time and a place for desktop operating systems. God forbid iOS and Mac OS X merge.

Seriously: Why should you cram all that s*** into the iPods. Leave them be, and sell all those other things as optional accessories... I don't want a radio, video and voice recorder, so why should I have to pay for all that...?
Do a little research on eBay and see how many of these are listed and sold per hour. These cheap Chinese imports are not tracked in overall sales figures of MP3 players. I don't know what kind of market share they have.
I've bought 5 of them myself, and those sales figures are not tracked and compared to Apples market share. One of the Chinese manufacturers has a 2 million unit per month build capacity, but they are in a 3 week back order status. I was hoping to get in the business on eBay and have done a ton of research on them. (These guys just came of of back order status: http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info.php/pName/mp4-player-1gb-15inch-tftscreen/ )
I think the Apple investors would be shocked if it were known just how many of these players were sold and shipped to the US, but there is just no way to know.

An operating system is a big complicated program that lets other big complicated programs co-exist peacefully on the same system. However, Apple does not generate much revenue from software sales. If they did, it would be a separate line item in their financials and they would probably need to disclose more information about software sales, since such a large part of the increase in shareholder value would be dependent on it.
Same deal with iTunes Store sales, App Store revenue, MobileMe subscriptions, etc. Not a major part of their bottom line. Apple uses software and content to drive sales of their high-margin hardware.

If it is not a software company, why would so many software developers throng to their conference? Yes, flash has issues, but there are several sites that I want to use from the iPhone that require it. It would be good for the iPhone to support it.
Can you name off some of those sites and give their web address. Anyone else have sites they can name? I would like to see how much the lack of Flash on the iPhone cripples a web site. - thanks.

Is it just me, or does the new iTunes logo look horrible in the dock? It doesnt seem to match anything, and it just doesnt look as "clean" as the typical dock logos have been/should be. When i went to click iTunes for the first time and it changed from the nice/clean green logo to this blue cheesy looking 1995 icon, I was pretty surprised!

it was quick and easy. honestly i am a power user, travel tons.
could use a new fresh pair of batteries anyway. i am checking to see if any of my 3 are swapable.

Don't just blame Adobe...blame apple too. It's a code/OS issue. It's works perfectly on PCs.
1) nothing works perfectly on PCs :D
2) the mac version and the pc version are diffrent. (mac version sucks and should be fixed and streamlined)
