Hi Goel_Ar, thanks for the response. Assuming there is indeed very good co-ordination between USCIS and SSN office, how long does it *normally* take to get the card?

They say it takes 10-14 business days but my Wife got it within 7 business days. hope this helps.

I have applied (e-filed) in Mid June--> got receipts in 3 days--> biometrics notice in 1 week after filing--> Finished Biometrics on 3rd July--> Received the cards today.

Thanks, yes our last names were different.
I told the postman.
Its been more than 2 weeks and I didnt get any response from USCIS after updating the address.It still shows initial review.
Does anyone know how long it would take for the USCIS to resend the card?
I'm in a similar situation and I opened an SR today. Did you see any movement?

I further checked with my companies attorney and also called USCIS and understood that I need to file EAD and AP with Texas service center as I live in Massachusetts.
I did paper filing and sent my application today.

I am having a little difficulty understanding this. If you are not so sure about approval in EB3 category how do you plan to apply in EB2 category? Moreover what makes you think that your EB3 I-140 may be denied? Even if it is a Labor substitution case if your application is strong, you should not have any issues. Your employer must support your EB2 application otherwise it is not possible.

I hate the fact, we let ourselves be discussed amongst the ILLEGAL immigration pool. We are not here illegally, there is no reason we should call this "GC for sale". We are helping the govt. by not just words but with our $$$.
We are here legally , paying taxes, paying rents etc. This fee is meant to speed up processing. No other terminology should be used at IV. Let anti-immigrants talk what they want.
Please remember, at any point there are always opposing forces at work. For those anti-immigrants I have no time or energy to ponder on there xenophobic reservations.
Lets not forget, America was and continues to prosper because of hardworking and honest immigrants..

I would suggest that the letter be sent at the time of filing the second EB2 I 140. This is the way my attorney filed.
What if I-140 gets denied?Will there be any harm to the existing I-485?Need YES or NO answer Please!

This is not a PD transfer case rather it is AC21 case.
One says, I can only remove my Future employer "X", who has filed for my GC, and carry my Priority Date , AFTER I get new PERM and new I140 from the new company.
Other one says, don't worry just move to new Employer and I don't need to refile PERM and I140.
Both lawyers are mentioned over 10 times on this web-site and both are VERY reputed.
I have NEVER worked for employer X, It was a future position and I may still join them.
I have approved 140 and 485 is pending for about 9 months.
EAD is approved and so is AP.
Please help guys!

I think members have written tons of pages on forums, spent days not hours predicting the actions of USCIS. But we need to understand that nothing and nobody can predict three things.

I agree that the DC rally is a critical event but I think I am loosing interest in this online forum. I guess the forum moderators may be busy with organizing the DC event. Is filing for 485 to get EAD etc really fraud? I mean it is their JOB to weed out the priority dates that are not current :). Besides if anyone is at fault it is the immigration lawyers.

I said frivolous filing of I485, nothing to do with priority date not being current. If the priority date is not current then you are not going to get EAD. Let me give you an example. You could make up a job description that got through labor cert, but for which you don't have the qualifications for. You can concurrent file I140/I485 and get EAD even though your application has no chance of passing. If your lawyer is OK with it - after all, why do they care as long as they get the fee - you have just wasted USCIS' time.

Many people asked me how I managed SR because the POJ has changed. Unfortunately, I myself don't know as I was trying desperately for various options. I did follow this generic template I had found while searching the forum, but I'm sure this didn't work right of the bat:

upto 6 months. they send out a letter as soon as you apply stating they have recvd yur app and working on it. I had applied for a Name correction. They refused after a couple of weeks itself and asked me to get it corrected in the visa consulate of the home country. When I went for stamping in chennai I pointed out error and the new stamp had the right name. Consult your attorney.
